He did M.Sc. and Ph.D. in Physics from Calcutta University, Kolkata.His field of specialization is electron microscopy and his research interests include molecular characterization of Vibrio Cholerae phages as well as ultra structural and immuno-electron microscopy of enteric pathogens. He has published thirty-five papers. His affiliations include membership in Royal Microscopical Society, Oxford,UK and membership in the Executive Comminu of Electron Microscopical Society of India . Dr. Ghosh did post-doctoral research with Prof. Ross B.Inmuan, University of Wisconsin, Madison, Wisconsin, USA and also visited the laboratory of Dr. Alan Curry Public Health Laboratory Withington Hospital,Manchester, UK.
