Dr. Dhirndranath Gupta, Deputy Director of National Institute of cholera and Enteric Diseases(I.C.M.R.). The present office address is P-33 C.I.T. Road, Scheme XM Calcutta - 700 010. His Date of birth is 31 st December 1946 Dr. Gupta passed M.B.B.S. in 1969 from Calcutta University, he also passed D.P.H. in 1977 from Calcutta University.

Worked as Medical Officer in West Bengal Health Service during 1973-1974 and also as Medical Officer Public Health in Damodar Valley Corporation during 1974-1980
Started research carrier as Research Officer(Epidemiology) at National Institute of Cholera & Enteric Diseases, Calcutta under I.C.M.R. in 1980. Since then working and involved in several epidemiological research project including descriptive, transmission, intervention and operational research studies related to Diarrhoeal Diseases in rural as well as in urban areas. In all these research projects the active involvement was either as co-investigator or as principal investigator for formulation of the project, planning, implementation and supervision of the project, also for data analysis and report writing.
Carried out epidemiological investigation of outbreak of diarrhoeal diseases in different places to find find the causative agent,the source and nature of infection along with suggestion of probable control measures.
Actively involved with the WHO guideline of morbidity, mortality and treatment practice survey of diarrhoeal diseases.
