Senior Research officer at National Institute of Cholera and Enteric Diseases, Calcutta since 1997. Attached to WHO collaborating Center For Disaster Preparedness and Control at AIIH&PH, Calcutta, as Senior Research Officer for 9 months in 1994.During the tenure at Calcutta Municipal corporation (1987-97), involved in various projects of public health importance like prevalence of HIV infection among thalassaemia patients,health sector preparedness and response to floods,rationality of prescribing Habits of physicians.Publications include 20 scientific papers in renowned journals and one book chapter. Attended more than 20 national level conferences And workshops and presented papers on various public health issues.Represented India in International Conference of World Federation of Public Health at Bali, Indonesia In 1994.Awarded PC Sen Memorial best paper award on rural Health in 1998.Advisor For International Consultation on Action Research on Health Care Utilization. Delivered radio talks on All India Radio on topics of Public interest like malaria, Aids, pulse polio, child nutrition.Conducted training programmes for doctors, paramedicals And also mothers in rural and urban areas. Attended training courses on ARI,AIDS, Baby Friendly Hospital Initiative,Epidemiology Statistics etc. Participated in epidemiological investigations of diarrhoeal diseases outbreaks. Professional affiliations include life membership of Indian Public Health Association (IPHA), Indian Academy of Paediatrics (IAP)Awarded Fellowship of IPHA in 1999. Also elected joint Secretary General and member of Central Council of All India body of (IPHA) Member of journal committee of Indian Journal of Public Health.Presently involved in research projects on epidemiology of diarrhoea Observational, intervention and operational research projects.Most recently working on Micronutrient supplementation to Low Birth Weight babies and its impact on growth and diarrhoeal incidence.
