NIYOGI
Dr. S. K. Niyogi, MBBS, MD, Deputy Director
Date of Birth: 3rd June, 1950, Joined
NICED on 1st September, 1980.
Age : 56 years.
His field of specialization is medical
microbiology with special emphasis on isolation and characterization of enteric pathogens
including anaerobic pathogens viz. Clostridium difficile, Bacteroides fragilis. He has
published forty research papers and is a member of
the Association of Medical Microbiologists of India.Dr.Niyogi has completed the training
course organized by JICA in the field of molecular microbiology at International Medical Center of Japan, Tokyo from 3rd
March to 27th August, 1998.Dr.Niyogi was awarded WHO Fellowship for a period of 6weeks
form 5th June, 2000 to 7th July ,2000.
During the fellowship Programme Dr. Niyogi
visited following laboratories in Canada.

Dr.
Niyogi acted as faculty member in
ICMR-NICED Training Course Isolation, Identification and Antimicrobial Resistance
Monitoring at the National Institute of Cholera, and Enteric Diseases, Calcutta (14 to17
may,2001).Dr.Niyogi participated in the WHO Sponsored Review Meeting cum Refresher Course
under NSPCD organized jointly by NICED, New Delhi
and NICED, Calcutta at Calcutta during July 17-21,2001.
