His field of specialization is virology with special emphasis on HIV/AIDS, Rotaviruses and Caliciviruses. He has published 35 papers. Dr. Naik served as a WHO Temporary Adviser at Queen Mary's Hospital, Hong Kong in 1985, and was a Guest Researcher at CDC, Atlanta, USA on HIV/AIDS in 1988 and a JICA participant at Sapporo Medical University, Japan on molecular characterization of human rotavirus and calicivirus during 1998-99.
