Age : 50 years.
His field of specialization is immunology with special emphasis on immunoregulation by molecules isolated from gram-negative bacteria. He has published nineteen papers and was a member of the American Association of Immunologists (till 1990). Dr. Biswas was a postdoctoral researcher and then a visiting Associate in the laboratory of Dr. Paul H. Plotz, at National Institute of Health, USA between 1984-88 and received training inmucosal immunology in the laboratory of Dr. Taeko Dohi, Department of Gastroenterology, International medical Centre of Japan, Tokyo, Japan for 6 months (August, 1990 - February, 1991). His present interest is to study the expression of co-stimulatory surface molecules of macrophages and B cells besides the expression of cytokines by flow cytometry in response to pain.
